Welcome to India with your kids
Travelling to India can be great fun - and even more so if you travel with your own children. We met hundreds of travellers roaming around with their children: mothers alone with small babies, couples with elder children, singles with toddlers and even two joung parents touring through India on a motorbike with five children between 1 and 14. We never found out how they managed to pack the whole family on a single motorbike - not to speak of the luggage.
Children open hearts - especially in India. The indians love children. Whereever you come, people are welcoming and interested in contact. You can expect waiters and fellow travellers to play gently with you children, and you will be surprised how much childishness they offer while playing. Beeing in company with your children opens completely new perspectives on the country.
Nevertheless, India lacks specialised facilities for children. Children are taken very much as a normal part of everyday life, and it is left to the parents to care for them. So don't expect to find babys menues, childrens highchairs or children cots in the hotels. On the other hand, nobody will be bothered by crying children and nobody will wonder if you carry them with you whereever you are.
